Freedom of Speech & Spiritual Belief is NOT alive and well here at The Spirit Quest Center!

Many of our clients and customers may not know this, but we’ve been having a bit of trouble off and on here at the center with vandals since we moved in.  The incidents started off pretty tame even though it quickly became annoying. We’d find graffiti on the outside building walls claiming we were “Jesus Haters” or “Satan Lovers”. At first we chalked up these acts of vandalism to mischievous kids who might be out having a good time, or maybe even adults who possibly had too much to drink at one of the nearby bars.

It didn’t take long before more acts of hate began to happen. Sometimes before a fair, we’d put small yard signs out around town to advertise our Psychic and Holistic fairs. At first, the signs were left alone. After a while, when it was time to pick the signs up, we’d find them beat up, pulled up, smashed apart and sometimes thrown into the town dumpsters.

So far, I guess we’ve been pretty lucky. The most damage we’ve had to put up with has been against our large, lighted billboard letter sign outside. Sometimes we’d come in to work in the mornings to find that the letters had been rearranged into vulgar language. We again at first thought this might be the work of kids, but now we are not so sure.

Chris and I left town one weekend and came back to find that someone had run over the large sign with their truck. Fortunately, we were able to get it sitting upright again.

A few weeks ago we came to work and found the power cord to the sign had been deliberately cut in half and left to dangle. Thanks to Janette and her husband, the cord was quickly repaired.

The latest vandalism has been even more devastating to our poor sign. We came in this week to find that someone had kicked or bashed the sign in so badly that it looks like a Ruffles potato chip. I guess the person(s) was hoping this would get rid of the sign once and for all. And would you believe the irony? This happened on … Independence Day weekend! The weekend we are celebrating our freedom!

Wow. It’s really disturbing when you think about people who are so against what you do in the community that they feel they have to damage or tear up your property to send you a message.

We now realize this vandalism is a deliberate act against what we are all about here at the center. There are a few signs exactly like ours just a few feet down the road from us and our neighbors have had no trouble whatsoever. What has happened to tolerance to various spiritual beliefs and freedom of speech in our country?  Why would anyone think it is okay to destroy another person’s property because they don’t believe the same way as we do or because we voice what we believe?

Recently our sign was used to advertise our store, our ghost tour and our psychic and holistic fairs. I suppose the person(s) responsible for this latest act of vandalism has decided to be in charge of demolishing our freedom of speech and spiritual belief and maybe they think this will scare us off or stop us from doing what we do here.

Well, unfortunately for them, it has only made our resolve stronger. So much so that we have decided that it is now our mission and goal to raise enough funds for a nice, big  LED scrolling sign that will proudly display who we are, what we do here at the center and what we believe in – tolerance for all spiritual faiths and freedom of speech.

To that end, in the coming weeks, we’ll be organizing several fund raisers for a new Spirit Quest Center sign. The first fundraiser will be at our Sunday, July 25th fair. It will be a chocolate fundraiser.  If you’d like to donate some chocolate to be sold as proceeds to donate to our sign cause, please email Ginger at spiritquestassociates@yahoo.com, or just bring it on by the shop. And all you chocolate lovers, please come to the fair and help us raise sign money by purchasing this delicious chocolate! Besides the fundraisers, we will also be accepting donations at our store and by Paypal on our website and in our newsletter. To make a Paypal donation now, you can visit our website HERE.  (Thank you, so much!!)

If tolerance of spiritual belief and freedom of speech are important to you too, please help us to get our message out there! Let’s show these cowards that we mean business. We won’t be intimidated to hide our heads in shame for what we do here, nor will we stop being who we are. It’s the very principal this country was built on and no matter what our color, creed, or belief, we think all people should have the opportunity to live in harmony and love.

Thank YOU so much for being a part of our center, helping us and supporting us in what we do here! We love what we do – it’s our passion to be a part of this community, and to provide services, sales, knowledge and information to those who seek a supportive spiritual path!

Come on in today and feel better already!

Integral Chi Healing Sessions by Dr. Kun Wu
Saturday, June 12
Walk ins are welcome today!

Last weekend, Dr. Kun Wu presented “Four Pillars of Emotional Health”, teaching us how emotional trauma and negative emotions can deplete our Chi energy and affect the body, mind and spirit.

After the workshop, Dr. Wu offered Integral Chi Healings. Because the response to his healing sessions has been so tremendous, Dr. Wu will be with us again this Saturday, June 12 offering private healing sessions.

Session fees are $80 for 45 minutes and includes a 20 minute follow up a few days later. Cash or check accepted only, please.

What is Integral Chi Healing?

Integral Chi Healing is a comprehensive system of self-healing techniques, which enables the use of CHI to heal physical and emotional ailments. It requires no physical contact since the healer works on the energy body rather than the physical body and the treatment acts as a catalyst to spark the body’s inborn ability to heal oneself. For example, if you accidentally hit your elbow against the wall, a contusion appears at the point of impact due to energy distortion there. The formation of the bruise is how the body expels trapped energy. It is a known fact the body is capable of healing a minor contusion in a few days. On the other hand, if the injury is being treated through energy therapy, the bruise may not appear at all because the injury is being healed at the energy level. This observation fits well in with the principle of Correspondence, which states that illness manifests at the energy level before it happens at the physical level. This modality is effective for treating acute skeletal and muscular ailments resulting from physical injuries and car accidents as well as chronic ailments such as TMJ, lower back pain and arthritis, etc. Since studies have shown Chi enhances the production of immune cells, Integral Chi Healing can speed up the healing process of immune – related illnesses.

Dr. Kun Wu is a M.I.T. trained medical scientist. He has personally experienced the benefit of healing energy as he healed himself of fibromaylgia using Energy Healing. He co-found Integral Chi Institute in Houston where education, research and teaching can be performed concurrently.

Yes, Virginia, the Universe Does Have a Sense of Humor This Week!

My friend, Sharon, sent me a video she thought I’d get a kick out of  on Wednesday night.  I wasn’t able to get it to play on my lap top  yesterday so I had to wait until this morning to watch it on my desk top. In the meantime, without any idea what the video was about (the email video Sharon sent was named “Doggie Morning”), for some weird reason, Iposted on Facebook yesterday what I like to eat for breakfast.

What???? I couldn’t believe the video I watched this morning. Boy the Universe sure has a sense of humor, does it not?  Hahahahaha!!!  Watch the video – Doggie Morning

Here’s another one happened this week. Chris left Wednesday morning to Bakersfield to be with family until June 19th. We have an old running joke between us. He used to travel extensively a few years back with his environmental job. One time, after feeling my oats with all that I had accomplished around the house and yard by myself, I told him, “I don’t need no man!”  As you can probably imagine, I have had to pay for that statement MANY times since then anytime I’ve had to ask for help with opening a pickle jar lid.

So with Chris off again on a trip, I’ve been doing pretty good here by myself. Even though Naomi walked into the center yesterday in the middle of my completely redoing the store. She looked at me and said, “Ginger, you look frazzled!!  What’s the matter?” She of course assumed at that point that I needed a man. She told me in a very stern voice, “Ginger!! You can do this! You are a strong and independent woman!!”  We had to laugh. So of course, yesterday, when I got in the van to go to work, I started it up and what was playing at that exact moment on the radio? Janis Joplin, “Move Over”.  She was singing, “Ya know I don’t need a man. No… I don’t need no man!”   Sometimes you just have to stop what you’re doing and have a laugh break, don’t ya?  I mean really, they probably go to a lot of trouble arranging all this stuff up there for our amusement….

What Would Happen?

Have you ever thought about what it means to live your life with total faith?

Have you ever wondered how life would unfold if you had no fear?

Are you curious how things would change for you if you decided that your birthright in this lifetime were feelings of self love, self confidence and self esteem?

Can you imagine a life without poverty or lack but instead with total abundance?

It’s easy. All we have to do is get ourselves out of our own way. How? Begin by thinking the Universe will provide us with this and even more. No fear, self-love, self-confidence, self-esteem, total abundance.

Think it. Imagine it. Believe it. Speak it out loud.

When do we start?  Let’s do it now.

And then, as one of our friends who comes here to the center likes to say, “Let me know how that’s working for ya.”

If you’re not sure where to start, try reading “Think & Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. It will change your life. It’s changing mine. (Thanks, JW!)

Let me know what you think….

Flounder Anyone?

I’ve missed writing for a bit. Been kinda feeling like I’m floundering around. Sort of a chaotic feeling.  Not too much energy to do much lately.

Naomi told me that Astrologer Ginger McCord said we’re all kind of coming down from a long time (as in years!) emotional high and that we’re getting more in line emotionally with where we are supposed to be. Naomi had a good description for how everyone’s been feeling since coming off our recent Mercury Retrograde… sort of like we were all flicked off the finger of the Universe and told to “fly little birdie, fly!”  Had to laugh at that one. She may be right! I can’t really put a name to the strange way I’ve been feeling lately but I’m ready to get my gumption back.

Made some headway with that last night with our second ever Women’s Full Moon Talking Circle. It was a great turn out and we had several new faces this time. Good food, good beverages, good conversation and we took the time to send healing to those there who needed it, or to loved ones, family or friends who needed it. We also took turns decorating our very cool talking stick and we even went outside for a bit to gaze up at the moon, and do a small blessing in a circle. The companionship and healing were exactly what I needed.  I think many there felt the same way.

We’ve had many curious women ask what is this women’s talking circle? When they hear what a good time we have, they are very interested and want to come. You should. It’s fun and it’s healing. We don’t want to be too structured in our meetings, but rather allow things to flow as they should.  We did aks, though, that everyone there last night please write down some things they’d like to do in upcoming circles as well as things they might be willing to share with everyone (talents, gifts, knowledge, hobbies – metaphysical or not). We got lots of great ideas. I think we’ll be having some really great circles coming up.

Our next Full Moon Women’s Talking Circle will be Wednesday, June 23rd, 7-9pm. Come be with us. It’s free, it’s fun. If you can bring some food or beverage to share, please do so. Look forward to next circle, friends!

Oh… and I wanted to share a cute poem brought by one of the women last night (we all love to laugh, you know!) Hope you enjoy this little take off from the original Footprints in the Sand…..

One night I had a wondrous dream, one set of footprints there were seen. Footprints of the Goddess, they were, but mine were not along the shore.

But then some stranger prints appeared, I asked the Goddess, “What have we here?”  “These prints are large, & round & neat, but much too big to be from feet.”

My child, she said, in somber tones, For miles I carried you alone. I challenged you to walk in faith, but you refused & made me wait. You would not learn, you would not grow, the walk of faith you would not know.

So I got tired, I got fed up, & there I dropped you on your butt. Because in life there comes a time, when one must reach, & one must climb. Where one must rise & take a stand, or leave their butt prints in the sand.

What did you do on Mother’s Day?

We had a great turn out for our Mother’s Day fair this past Sunday. Lots of moms joined us to celebrate their special day.  It was so fun to visit with everyone!

Our friend Tracy Spirit Wolf was also at the fair offering Reiki healing sessions. And she just happened to have her camera with her. She sent me a few pics from the day to share with everyone.

Here’s one of the Spirit Quest Center’s practitioners, Janette, as she does an ear candling. If you’ve never seen this done before, it can look a little strange! But believe me, this is a very pampering and healing session.

The candles used are actually a hollow tube. When lit, it creates a suction which draws out bacteria, yeast and even ear wax out of the ear. It leaves your ears feeling clean, light, and afterwards you can hear like never before.  What I really love about the session that Janette does, is she uses aromatherapy oils which she rubs on the face near the sinuses and along the cheek and jaw near the ears. She gently rubs these points to help the ears release more. The aromatherapy scents relax and rejuvenate you and the massage feels like a wonderful facial.

After she’s done, Janette places a very warm washrag with a few drops of aromatherapy oil on it over your face to totally relax you.  Ummmmm…. it feels absolutely lovely!

Here’s a pic of Bijia, another Spirit Quest practitioner, in his office in between fair day clients. This is a rare pic. Bijia doesn’t get much free time for photo posing on a busy fair day! He stays busy offering Tao palm readings, Taoist Magic Square Divination Tarot readings and Qi Gong healing therapy during the fairs.

And sneaky Tracy got me while I was working on the computer!

And somehow, Chris and I ended up posing for camera…. how did that happen?  Must have been a weak moment!

Our next fair will be the 23rd of this month. That’s a Sunday. Tracy will be with us again offering Reiki. You need to come out and experience her wonderful healing energy.

Ginger McCord will also be there. She’s the editor of the Indigo Sun. Ginger will be doing psychic astrology readings. Everyone absolutely loves them!

So come on out and have fun with us. We’d love to see you there!

The Blessing of Mom

Today’s the day we set aside for that very special person in our lives – Mom.

Growing up, I was so blessed to have two very wonderful parents. If it were my choice before I came here in this lifetime to pick out my parents, I couldn’t have done better, nor would I have wanted to.

Now admittedly, you couldn’t have told me to count my blessings as I was growing up a know-it-all, rebellious teenager. I gave both my parents WAY more than their share of worry and trouble. I’m sure there are very special rewards in heaven for parents like mine and hopefully it comes with a gold crown and diamond encrusted tiarra!

I’ll never forget my mom telling me one day after I was being especially obnoxiously teenagerish, “I hope you grow up and have a child just like you!”  Little did I know then that simple sentence would take root into my subconscious mind and scare the bejeepers out of me for 21 years.  After I had my daughter, I kept waiting and waiting for the “mom curse” to take hold. Fortunately for me, the higher ups must have figured I’d paid my karmic dues by then and they decided to show me mercy. I was blessed with a daughter that was everything that I was not growing up. Wheew! Missed it by that much!!

I’ve thought a lot lately about how blessed I am to have a mother who was loving enough to agree to take on the spiritual contract of having me as a kid.  No matter how many trials and tribulations I visited upon her, she was always there for me. Always. My mom’s most important gift to me my entire life has been unconditional love.

It was my mother who encouraged me to be who I want to be – all the way up to this moment.  Without my mom, I wouldn’t be the person I am today and I wouldn’t have the joyous opportunity to get up every day and live my life’s work and passion. It’s with awe and gratitude that I revisit the memories of my life with my mom and look back at the gift I was given. My mother. I love you mom. Thank you for always being there for me.
